Mixed Media Canvas Tutorial

Hi Everyone :)
I hope this post finds you happy and encourages and inspires you to try something different!  I just started playing around with canvas's lately and have found I really enjoy creating them.  I have a friend who has commissioned me to do a 16 x 20 for her.  To say I'm nervous is an understatement!  So I decided to do my own first to see how hard it would be to fill up that much real estate.  It was intimidating but I'm happy with the way it turned out.  I've taken some pictures of the different stages for you.  So I started with a 16 x 20 and put some Tim Holtz tissue paper (Melange) down and used Golden Mediums Matte Medium to adhere it to the canvas.  I also added some drywall tape for some texture.
Then I cut out the saying Dream Imagine & Believe on my Silhouette Cameo laid it on the canvas for placing with some sprays, flowers, antique doily, some old jewelry and some veneer butterflies.
Then it sat there for 3 days before I got the nerve up to add some color, LOL!  I FINALLY decided on my colors and decided to add some, My Studio Violet 72761, Martha Stewart Carrot Satin paint and My Studio Turquoise 72751 to some Golden Artist Colors Molding Paste. I then used the colored modeling paste with some Heidi Swapp stencils to add some texture.   Then I got brave and I started misting with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Summer Glow, Dragonfly and Mardi Gras.  To be honest I was terrified as this was the first time I had ever used Glimmer mist or any other mist on a canvas!  When I sprayed the color I would then lightly mist with water and blow the color around with my heat gun.

I then used Liquitex Matte Gel Medium to adhere the doily to the canvas.  Then I hot glued the flowers down and sprayed them with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Iridescent Gold.  I then used my Faber Castell Gelato on the corners and the butterflies to give them some definition.  Then all that was left to do was to adhere the letters with Golden Mediums Matte Medium.

I hope you enjoyed this little tutorial.  I really enjoyed making this canvas even with all of the anxiety attached to it! LOL!!!
